Today Is The Day
by Victoria Ricklefs
Tascosa High School
Today is the day that I will tell you a story a true story that happened to me. It all started when I was a high school student. I remember it like yesterday, it was a summer day on June twenty-first 1969. It started like a normal day. I got up at five like usual took a shower, brushed my teeth an grabbed my stuff. Then walked to school because my school was only a few blocks away. On my way I waited for my friend because my friend’s mom did not want her to walk to school by herself. On our way we saw a squirrel with out a tail it was a cute little thing. My first class is called The Daily Profit because I wrote for the schools newspaper I wrote squibs for it. I had a problem I could not see the board I had to squint for about a year till I got glasses. As the day went by, it was time to go to lunch and I usually squandered about twenty dollars a day. I don’t know why but I like to squander money. I always synchronized my watch so I new what time I had to go back to school so I would not be late for my other classes. I guess you could say I was a nerd I like to write synopsis and read that’s what I did at lunch in my spare time. After school I was waiting for my friend and then we went home. When I got home my mom was squabbling at me because I did not throw away the garbage. I heard a noise it sounded like a big squeak. It was my mom, she had been sick with so many symptom’s. I had so much sympathy for her. I did not know what to do, so I called my mom’s doctor. He told my mom and me she only had the flu, it was natural for us to get the flu. |
