Blue A Date With Ace
by Julie Lockhart
Bryson Elementary School

I read an article in the newspaper about lessons on horseback riding. I wrote down the address and headed out the door. I pulled up to the ranch and noticed several things. It was located at the base of a mountain. It was a long cabin with bay window panes and lace curtains, which seemed unusual for a ranch. It reminded me of a magazine picture that you make with a video tape. The outside was surrounded by trees, shrubs, wildflowers, a windmill and several bales of hay for the horses. I got out of the car and introduced myself to the owner, Dale. He took me to the barn to meet the horses. There was a mare named Ace, and a pale bare back one that was young in age whose name was Babe. They were both very tame. It was getting late, so I made a date to ride Ace. I thanked Dale and left. I can’t wait till next week to learn to horseback ride on Ace!

Blue The Ball Game
by Terry Brown
Bivins Elementary School

There once was a gal named Sal. She had a best pal Hal. They liked to play ball. They would call their friends and have a car wash to get cash so they could all play together. Jan could not play because she has a bad rash. She said she shall play the next game. Don could not play because he had a bad gash on his hand. Everyone hoped he could play next time too. They went to a vacant lot to play their game. Some of the moms would go watch the game. Ron could whap the ball very hard. It would go wham against the bat and Sal would try to catch it. Sometimes she would fall while looking up when trying to dash for the ball. Mom would yell out good job to her son Ron. It was usually hot so they would go to the mall and get ice cream when one side won the game.
