From
our students…
“I think that all students who have difficulty
reading will be able to overcome the problem and learn to read if
given the opportunity to attend a CEI lab. In
sixth grade, I struggled when reading simple words. After a year in
CEI, I am reading at a 9.6 grade level.
Now I would rather read than watch televisionMiddle School Student
– Orange County, FL
“I once struggled to keep up with my classmates.
Feeling that my situation was hopeless,
I was thinking about quitting school. Then I started attending the
CEI lab and learning became easy.
Now, I’m thinking about going to college.” High School Student – Laredo,
TX
“I still remember that shooting sensation of fright that bolted through
my body when asked to stand and read the scattered letters across
the page.
After I enrolled in CEI’s program, not only did my grades show significant
improvement, but my self-esteem and attitude toward reading also began
to change Elementary School Student – Crawford, TX
“I enrolled in the school’s ELS program and found
it to be not only fun, but also a brilliant and unique way to learn
how to read and write. What I learned
from this program is the biggest asset I have and no one can take
it away from me!” Adult student – Bradenton,
FL
“I knew from the very first lesson that this program
was what I needed because I started to see results.” Adult Student
– Floresville, TX
“Before, when I looked at words, I just
saw letters. Now I see each word individually and understand its meaning.”

“Within weeks of being in the CEI program, one
of my students was off and running. He was beginning to know his letters
and was able to identify basic words. By mid-term, he was able to
read short stories. I cried the first time I heard him read. He was
so proud that he was beaming.” Elementary Content Mastery Teacher
– Lockhart, TX
“The students enjoy coming to the CEI lab so much that some come even
before the bell rings. Their self-esteem increases as they realize
that they can learn to read. The classroom teachers have noticed that
the CEI students are now volunteering to read in class. With all the
encouragement, praise and hard work, the students are truly well on
their way to success!” High School Lab Facilitator – Amarillo,
TX
“Of all the programs I’ve seen in 27 years in education, the CEI program
for reading is the best.” Elementary School Principal – North Miami,
FL “For the high achievers, it has improved their standardized test
scores, some dramatically. For the low achievers, it has brought up
their standardized test scores and improved their overall academic
performance.” Private School Headmaster – Greenwood, MS
“There are musicians who are naturally gifted, just as there are gifted
readers, writers and speakers. However, for the rest of us, what’s
often needed is the discipline and structure of a system such as this.”
Middle School CEI Lab Facilitator – Ft. Worth, TX
Kids see their parents on the computer and realize the importance
of education. Parents improve their own parenting skills as the become
more successful in reading, writing, and of course, in their jobs.
The results of this lab help better two generations!” CEI Lab Facilitator
– Brazosport, TX
“After just eight months, he was transformed from a nonreader with
severe emotional problems to a cheerful eight-year-old boy who wants
to be a policeman.” Elementary School Special Ed. Teacher – Texas
City, TX
“I won’t let anything get in the way when it comes to helping my students
learn the greatest skill of all – the ability to read. If smiles were
a paycheck, I’d be a millionaire.” Center School CEI Lab Facilitator
– Sarasota, FL “ELS is much more than a program to teach reading.
It is a program that teaches kids how to learn. ELS gives them responsibility
for their progress and challenges them to succeed at levels where
they can function.” Middle School Language-Arts Teacher – Dade
County, FL

“To read well,
kids need repetition and reinforcement, especially at the youngest
levels. Florida has mandated
that all children be able to read by the end of the second grade,
and the CEI lab emphasis will be a positive contribution to that goal
in this 1,100-student pre-k facility.” Elementary School Principal
– Dade County, FL
We have had great success with the CEI program. It helps us to identify
any reading problems our students may have, so we can help them. We
are going to put all our kindergarteners through the program next
year.” Assistant Superintendent – Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD, TX
“Self-esteem is bubbling in the CEI lab. When many of these students
began the program, they had difficulty just recognizing words, but
due to increased vocabulary and improved processing skills, they are
now able to comprehend complete words and sentences…” Elementary School
Principal – Stephens County, GA “In just 4.5 months, students showed
an average increase of 2.5 grade levels in reading comprehension.
To help ensure continued success, we are doubling the size of the
CEI lab to 60 stations for next year. That means 360 students a day
will have the benefit of experiencing one-on-one, individualized instruction.”
High School Assistant Principal – Fontana, CA
“This is the closest thing to
one-on-one tutoring that can be achieved in a large urban school because
the program is individualized for each student.”
Middle School Language-Arts Teacher – Dade County, FL
“Our school houses 40 ESL students who collectively speak 12 languages.
It would be difficult to find an ESL teacher who could communicate
with all the students like the ELS program.” Elementary School Principal
– Amarillo, TX
“Of all the programs I’ve seen
across 27 years in education, the CEI program for reading is the best.
School is now an exciting place for our CEI lab students. Their self-esteem
is growing and they are excited about reading.” Elementary School
Principal – North Miami Beach, FL
“In the first year we implemented the lab at our school, CEI students’
average gain in reading comprehension was 2.5 years! We are looking
forward to even greater gains this school year!” >High School Administrator
– Tucson, AZ
“As a principal in the fourth largest school district in America,
I instantly thought about the possibilities – a promise of hope for
the nonreader, increased self-esteem for the academically troubled,
and improved standardized test scores.” Middle School Principal –
Dade County, FL
“In response to the Governor’s (former Governor of Texas, now President
George W. Bush) Reading Initiative, CEI labs were implemented in the
two elementary schools with the lowest reading scores. When success
was quickly observed at these schools, administrators decided to add
CEI labs to all the other elementary schools in the district. After
just one year, TEA named our district as a “Recognized” district.
Three elementary schools were named “Exemplary” schools, and several
elementary schools were named “Recognized” schools based on TAAS scores.
We attribute part of that success to the CEI program.” Technology
Director – San Antonio, Texas

“The CEI lab is indeed an asset to this school
district. Educating our students is very important, and taking the
time to help children to develop their minds at a level that works
for them is very essential. As the saying goes…’A mind is a terrible
thing to waste.’” Parent of Elementary School Student – Uvalde, TX
“CEI was the only program that worked for her. We now describe our
daughter as the most athletic and outgoing person to we know. We attribute
this change wholly to the CEI program for building her self-esteem.
She has excelled above any expectations we ever dreamed.” Parents
of High School – Breckenridge, TX
“He is now considered a voracious reader and has been accepted into
the Gifted and Talented program. CEI not only helped him learn to
read, but also gave him the courage to be a successful student.”
Parent of Intermediate School Student – Brownsville, TX
“Although some might see her situation with Cerebral Palsy as a tragedy,
it has actually been a great learning experience. And
learning is exactly what my daughter has been doing since she started
attending the CEI lab.” Special
