Guillermo Caudillo, a fifth grade student attending Sam Houston Elementary in McAllen, Texas, began using Essential Learning Systems (ELS) on November 9, 2010. Over the four years he has used the ELS program, Guillermo has shown great strides in his reading abilities. His 2014-2015 Diagnostic Screening Test: Reading (DST:R) assessment results show Guillermo’s Comprehension level at an 8.8 grade level equivalent. Excellent job, Guillermo! You can comprehend text at almost the level of a high school student!
Guillermo also successfully mastered the Reading section of the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR), only missing 12 questions of the 46. Miss Hernandez, Guillermo’s classroom teacher, describes Guillermo as “a balanced and hard-working individual,” and she is proud of the progress he has achieved. Miss Hernandez also points out that Guillermo has never missed a week of achieving his weekly goal of Accelerated Reader (AR) points. His dedication has transformed Guillermo into an avid reader and has led him to acquire 77 AR points! As a balanced and hard-working student, Guillermo will definitely keep opening doors to new levels of learning.
