ELSO FAQs

1. I live outside the USA, what is my price for ELSO?
All quoted pricing is in U.S. dollars.

2. How do I subscribe to ELSO?
Go to the At-Home Store tab at the top of the homepage or simply click on “Subscribe Now” in the left sidebar.

3. How many students can use one ELSO Subscription?
ELSO collects a massive amount of student data, which we preserve and often review throughout the length of the subscription. Because we store so much data, we can only permit one student per subscription. However, to ensure that families with multiple students can afford to purchase additional subscriptions, we offer our subscriptions at a price far below that of other single tutoring programs.

4. Is there a limit to the number of devices on which I can use ELSO?
No. When you purchase an ELSO subscription you’re not purchasing an application … you’re purchasing access to ELSO lessons. We provide four different ways to access those ELSO lessons: web browser, iPad, Android, and desktop. You can use the program on internet-connected devices including laptops, notebooks, Chromebooks, Windows Surface tablets, and more with our web app. You can use ELSO on an iPad with the free app available in the Apple App Store. You can complete lessons on an Android tablet with the free app available in the Google Play Store. Or, you can download and use the application on any Windows or Macintosh desktop computer with internet access. Depending on the available browser and internet security, you can even access ELSO lessons on a computer in a school or public library.

5. When will my ELSO subscription start and end?
For a monthly subscription, we will charge your credit card with the monthly fee at the time you initially download ELSO. And because each subscription is “auto-renewing,” we will continue to charge your credit card or PayPal account monthly until you cancel your subscription (see Point #16). For example, if you start on September 5, the next billing date will be October 5, and so on. If the calendar day on which you subscribed does not exist in the following month, the billing date will be the date immediately following the last date of the month. As an example, if you start on August 31, the billing date for September will be October 1 (since there is no September 31). The billing date for the next month will be the original date, October 31. Your payments are set up as ARB (Automatic Recurring Billing), but it is your responsibility to immediately notify us if any applicable credit card expires or if you want to change cards. To avoid interruption in your subscription, we recommend you submit your notification within three business days of your next billing date. If you want, you may change to the discounted 6-month plan at any time, but please notify us within three business days of your next billing date.

The 6-month plan is also “auto-renewing,” meaning you will be billed the full 6-month price the day you start the subscription and again 6-months later. For example, if you start September 5, you will be billed again on March 5, and so on. The rest of the billing process is the same as that of the monthly subscription.

6. How long before a student finishes the program?
Several factors affect the completion date: the age of the student, prior educational skills, any learning challenges, assistance from a parent or guardian, and most importantly, the amount of time the student spends on the program each day. Although we recommend 30-45 minutes, five days each week, you may choose less or even more time.

7. Are there any time limits to using the program?
We make every reasonable effort to keep the program available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are three exceptions 1) infrequent, brief interruptions on our part to download updates; 2) interruptions by our hosting service or your internet provider; and 3) certain actions beyond our control such as acts of God, government activities, civil unrest, labor disputes, terrorism, etc.

8. I’m not a teacher, how do I guide my student through the program?
ELSO is not what some people might refer to as a plug-and-play program. And although some students can proceed through much of the program on their own, students are often more successful when parents, guardians, etc., are involved. The good news is that we include a User’s Guide to walk you through every step of the program and help make your ELSO experience a successful one.

9. What if I have additional questions regarding support, payments, etc.?
Because ELSO’s users come from varying time zones and speak different languages, and because we include a guide with the program, CEI chose to keep the subscription price low rather than maintain a phone bank for additional support. However, if you struggle with a problem, we have a support team that is available via email. You can reach them by going to info@ceilearning.com or by typing your question in the space provided in Finding Answers at the bottom of this page. We strive to answer questions as rapidly as possible, but our offices are only open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CST in the USA. Therefore, it is possible that depending on when you submit your question, it might take up to 48 hours for us to respond.

10. I am an adult student, so why does the program start with such easy words?
ELSO is a skills-based program that helps learners of all ages – regardless of challenge – to achieve success. To ensure that students haven’t moved past a skill without becoming proficient at it, everyone starts at the beginning. However, the program includes frequent assessments to determine what content learners have and have not mastered, so learners can concentrate on only the material they need to learn.

11. Is ELSO only available in English?
The purpose of ELSO is to teach the skills necessary to read and speak English, so the program is written in that language. However, ELSO does include an option that allows the user to hear each task’s instructions in Spanish.

12. How can I review the status of my account?
Reviewing your current At-Home subscriber account is as simple as logging into your account. There you will be given two options. The first is to update your profile where you can make changes to your address, email and password. The second is to manage your account where you can review your order status or even cancel your subscription if you choose.

13. What is the “Referral Code” in the Account Profile?
When we designed ELSO, it was our goal to reach as many students as possible with the best product at the best price. In doing so, many organizations and institutions — homeschooling associations, private schools, international learning centers, etc. — have contacted us. To monitor the usage of ELSO and meet the needs of both individuals and groups like these, we have assigned Referral Codes to some organizations. In most cases, this code is not applicable to individual users.

14. Do I own the program?
No, you are merely subscribing for the use of the program. CEI maintains ownership and reserves all rights, titles, and interest in and to the services provided, including all related intellectual rights. As such, you agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, or exploit any portion of the subscription or the program in part or whole. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

15. Can I put my ELSO subscription on hold during the summer?
If you look at the “Accelerated Learning” paragraph in the middle of our homepage, you will see why we encourage continued learning and why we don’t offer temporary subscription pauses. We’ve found that stepping away from the process for an extended period may cause the student to lose ground to the point where he or she must relearn the material, thus delaying the final outcome. Additionally, the summer months offer extra time for the student to learn, and the program is accessible almost anywhere.

16. How do I cancel my subscription?
You may cancel your subscription at any time by 1) logging into your At-Home Store account and looking for the Cancellation portion of Manage My Account; 2) emailing us at info@ceilearning.com; or 3) submitting a request in the comment section of Finding Answers at the bottom of the page (please be sure to include student’s name). There are no cancellation charges, but please allow three business days to avoid future billings.

17. What is your refund policy?
Like most software, CD-ROMs, DVDs, etc., all sales are final once the product is opened and used. Therefore, there are no refunds for ELSO subscriptions. However, because your original subscription allows for unlimited use of ELSO, we will continue to provide access to the program for the duration of the paid subscription (monthly or 6-months) in case you change your mind.
